Me and Me and Me

That beating in your ear hears:

The sound of a humming bird.

Echoes does that plump thump:

That sound of a heart convulsing.

Seconds later the ECG beeee—

Ps—Flatline.

“Look at your course, young’un, run—

Ning low, aren’t ya?”

“First a flatline, now it’s only steeping deeper.

Down into those dark depths again I fear…”

“Anymore and you’ll drown, young one.

Might you know to swim?”

“No thank you, sirs… Madam. Damned

For as I may be, I wish for no help.”

“Why you young fool? Cruel

To yourself you’ll die as!”

“Oh my, please reconsider—Wither

Away you will!”

“Free to do as you wish—Fish

Learn to swim the moment they’re born.”

“Where I am leaving to… I am afraid—Made

To know there is no birth—Only end.

And for that I feel content—Meant

like this was for me.

Me and Me and Me.”
